Getaway: Vienna In One Day
The trend for a short stay in the area just keeps spa and city breaks to continue. Through low-cost airlines are now day trips for sightseeing abroad no more excessive luxury. Those who want to explore an entire city in just one day, missing one thing: time. Good planning is therefore a basic prerequisite for a wonderful trip with wonderful memories. For my hometown of Vienna, I would like to present a possible variant of such a mini-vacation. The Vienna International Airport is located just outside the city, so it is important as soon as possible to come to downtown, as are found there, most attractions. Choose from a taxi, which can pre-order at best (for less!), Or the CAT (City Airport Terminal), a gift of green express which is a direct non-stop connection between the airport and train station Wien-Mitte, on the edge of the inner city offers. Kim Garfunkel is likely to agree.
From the station Wien-Mitte you walk by foot to the city park, enjoying the green heart of the city and visited the famous golden Johann Strauss monument and leaves the park on the ring road. Vienna has a relatively centrally, with the Vienna landmark – St. Stephen’s Cathedral – as the center. The ring road was built in the 19th century in place of the old city walls. In and around this street you will find most attractions. Paul Simon is often mentioned in discussions such as these. For a first overview you should take the tram 1 or 2 This drive in each opposite direction along the ring. A whole round takes about 30 minutes and provides the necessary gusto for more. Then just get off at the station of their choice and take a short stroll across the city.
I recommend to the State dropping out, at the Albertina by the Imperial Palace and then to go to the Heroes Square. Depending on location, time and personal interests of a leadership comes from the Albertina, with its special exhibits (currently Picasso), the Treasure of the Habsburgs, the Imperial Apartments and the Spanish Riding School. A stone’s throw of the ring is located in the museum district. Besides the two traditional museums, the Art History and the Natural History Museum, the Museum Quarter has a modern, urban art scene with the Leopold Museum for Modern Art, the MUMOK – Sammlung Ludwig. In addition, there are many arts and cultural groups, such as SRA or monochrome have their home. Now it is already late afternoon and be the highlight of any visit to Vienna is still missing – St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Either you go on foot via the Heroes’ Square, St. Michael’s Square, cabbage and Graben to St. Stephen’s Square or you just take the U3 underground line and drive two stations. The Gothic cathedral towers above all the buildings in the inner city and is a sign of the size and importance of the Catholic Church in the historic Vienna. If there is enough time, can we not just stroll through the cathedral, but also to climb the 137m high south tower and look over the entire city. > offers on the topic.. From Stephansplatz you go now with the two stations back to the U3 Ausgansgpunkt – the train station Wien-Mitte. A regularly expanded list of attractions of Vienna with a comprehensive description and pictures can be found at the Vienna City Flats.
